Hello, and welcome to my About Me page, where I share a bit about myself and my approach to counselling.
A Diverse Pathway: Understanding the Human Experience
Before I embarked on the path of counselling, my life journey took me through various industries, from the structured environment of the public sector to the dynamic world of corporate sales. Through these experiences, I gained a profound understanding of people from all walks of life and the complexities of their challenges.
In my previous roles, colleagues often sought me out to share their concerns and dilemmas. They remarked on my ability to listen attentively and provide support without judgment. It was during these moments that I began to realise the immense value of simply being present for someone, offering empathy, and creating a space where people felt heard. These diverse encounters have enriched my ability to connect with people on a deep level. They've taught me that each individual's journey is unique, but our fundamental need for understanding, compassion, and guidance remains universal.
A Person-Centred Approach
My training led me to specialise in the person-centred modality. In simple terms, this approach revolves around creating a warm, empathic, and non-judgmental environment where you, the client, are at the centre of our work. It's about recognising that you possess the inherent capacity for growth and healing, and my role is to guide and support you in that journey.
Solution-Focused Therapy: Practical Support for Today's World
In addition to person-centred therapy, I've recently incorporated Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) into my practice. SFBT is an approach that acknowledges the demands of our fast-paced lives. It doesn't always delve deeply into the roots of problems; instead, it focuses on practical, real-world solutions. It provides invaluable coping mechanisms to help you navigate the everyday challenges life presents.
A Holistic Blend
While much of my training is rooted in the traditional approach of talking therapy, I also embrace a holistic perspective. I'm trained in life coaching, meditation and mindfulness, and I believe in their power to enhance well-being. When appropriate, I can incorporate these techniques into our therapy sessions to help you find balance and clarity. I also offer therapeutic coaching as a separate service.
Walking Beside You on the Path to Greater Well-being
Life can be complex, but you don't have to navigate it alone. I'm here to provide a compassionate and supportive space where you can explore your challenges, discover your strengths, and embark on a path to greater well-being. I look forward to the privilege of walking this journey with you.
I understand how daunting it can be to reach out and get support, so I try to make this process as easy as possible. I offer a free 15 minute introductory call. This is a chance for us to have an informal chat, and for you to get a feel for whether you would like to work with me..
